An All-Online Anatomy & Physiology Graduate Certificate
This program provides an understanding of human anatomy and physiology at a level required for clinical medicine. Graduates of the program will be able to relate basic science knowledge to clinical scenarios and will be prepared to develop instructional and assessment plans utilizing best practices and appropriate pedagogy for learners at the secondary and post-secondary levels.
The Graduate Certificate in Anatomy & Physiology may be used
- To create a foundation for further education in the health professions
- As additional graduate study and/or research in the discipline
- By educators at the secondary or post-secondary level who require graduate-level credits to teach anatomy and physiology.
The program is 100% online with the exception of an optional one-week, on-campus residency.

Earn a Master's Degree with Just a Few Additional Classes
Looking to continue your education? The 18-credit certificate program can be used as a track to an MSEd or MHSc at Shenandoah University.
Teachers who complete this program will meet the necessary credit hours in the discipline (18) that, when accompanied by a master’s degree, satisfy the requirements to teach courses at the high school and/or community college level. In addition, this program could be attractive to teachers who don’t already possess a master’s degree and are interested in teaching anatomy. With an additional four courses, students are able to earn the Master of Education, Individualized Focus degree.
The Master of Science in Health Sciences admits students from diverse backgrounds who have demonstrated the academic ability to pursue a graduate degree and the desire to advance their professional skills in a health sciences discipline. This program provides students with foundational knowledge and skills in one of six available tracks and advanced skills in research, inquiry and leadership. The curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in health care systems, leadership, and research while also choosing an area of special interest. The multidisciplinary nature of the program enhances the student experience.

Program Prerequisites
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of 4 full semester courses (12-16 credits) in biology, chemistry, and/or physics OR completion of a previous health professions or master’s program in biological or health sciences.
Application requirements
- Complete a graduate application for admission.
- Provide additional transcripts from all institutions of higher education previously attended.
- Provide one letter of recommendation.
